About Delfina

Hello, I'm Delfina Alcantar. Thank you for taking the time to read my short biography, which I hope I can expand on should I have the privilege of meeting you in person. My professional journey into therapy has been shaped by a deep appreciation for the resilience people demonstrate in the face of life's challenges. Through my work in community mental health and crisis response, I have had the opportunity to walk alongside children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families during some of their most difficult seasons. These experiences strengthened my belief that meaningful healing begins when people feel genuinely seen, understood, and supported.

I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University after completing my bachelor's degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Biology at the University of California, Davis. I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and have received specialized training in Brainspotting, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), attachment-based therapy, and trauma-informed care. Through this work, I have developed a passion for helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and self-esteem concerns while discovering healthier ways of relating to themselves and those around them.

My passion for therapy has also been shaped by my background as a former competitive gymnast and cheerleader. Those experiences taught me how easily our sense of worth can become tied to achievement, performance, and the expectations we place upon ourselves. They also gave me a deep appreciation for perseverance, resilience, and the importance of caring for our emotional well-being alongside our accomplishments. Today, I especially enjoy supporting teens, young adults, and individuals navigating seasons of transition as they work toward greater confidence, emotional balance, and a stronger sense of identity. When I'm away from the office, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, staying active, and continuing to learn and grow both personally and professionally.

    Mineko's Approach

Therapy with me is a space where you do not have to perform, have everything figured out, or pretend you are doing better than you really are.

I work to create a supportive, collaborative environment where you can slow down, understand what you are feeling, and begin making sense of the patterns, pressures, and expectations that may be affecting your life.

For teens and young adults especially, anxiety, perfectionism, school or career pressure, relationships, family expectations, and the constant need to “keep it together” can become overwhelming. Athletes and high achievers may also struggle with the feeling that their worth is tied to their performance or ability to succeed.

Our work together is about looking beneath the surface. We can explore what is driving the anxiety, self-doubt, emotional overwhelm, or pressure you are experiencing while helping you develop a stronger understanding of yourself and the way you respond to challenges.

You do not have to come into therapy knowing exactly what is wrong or what you want to change. We can figure that out together.
