About Mineko

Hi, my name is Mineko Burnette and I appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself and hopefully learn more about you.  I am an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwest University in Kirkland, WA, where I developed a strong foundation in evidence-based therapeutic practices and child development.

I completed my clinical internship at Sound Behavioral Health in Seattle, working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds facing complex mental health concerns, behavioral challenges, and substance use disorders. My work with children has been an equally meaningful part of my journey and I have extensive experience working with children through my roles in early childhood education and youth behavioral health settings, helping them build emotional skills and strengthen social connections by engaging in developmentally appropriate and emotionally stabilizing activities. I have worked with and supported children from infancy through adolescence, including those navigating trauma, emotional dysregulation, and challenging life transitions.

I am passionate about working with children, families, and individuals to help each client meet their goals for their mental health and well-being and am committed to providing compassionate care that honors each client’s unique story and strengths.

Outside of my work as a therapist, I’m someone who finds joy in simple, grounding routines. I love reading and listening to audiobooks, staying active, and spending time with my family.

Mineko's Approach

My therapeutic approach integrates a variety of modalities depending on clients’ needs and includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to help clients build practical skills for navigating life’s challenges and create meaningful change. At the same time, I value the importance of going deeper to explore a client’s history, relationships, and formative experiences through the lens of Attachment Theory to understand how each individual’s past shows up in their present. I believe healing happens when we combine skill-building with insight, curiosity, and a safe space to be fully seen. My style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity, with a focus on helping clients feel seen, supported, and empowered.
